Tyler Boshae
is an employee of Montana Stone Gallery-Missoula. Tyler is
part of our warehouse team, and the MSG family. Tyler was
hired with the knowledge that he has Tourette Syndrome. Tyler
has been a great team member helping to receive and ship
hundreds of slabs of natural stone. He has always demonstrated
a great attitude and has become a dear friend. His condition
causes him great suffering and uncontrollable muscle spasms or
"tics". Tyler began to see symptoms of this condition at age
nine, he is now 23 years old. For much of his life, Tyler's
condition was controlled through various medications. Recently
however, all medications began to stop working, causing Tyler
extreme pain, suffering, and uncontrolled tics.
Tyler has had
to take a leave of absence and was recently hospitalized and
heavily medicated to help bring his tics under control.
According to his doctors, Tyler's only chance of returning to
a "normal" life is for him to have brain surgery. The
procedure recommended for Tyler is called "Deep Brain
Stimulation" where electrodes are implanted into his brain and
manipulated and controlled by an electronic device programmed
by his physician. This procedure has been used successfully to
treat some patients with Parkinson's disease, and several
patients with Tourette Syndrome have undergone this procedure
with very positive and promising results.
Tyler's family,
friends, fellow employees, compassionate strangers and the
owners of Montana Stone Gallery have established a foundation
to help raise funds to help Tyler regain his life and help pay
for this urgently needed surgery. We have established the
Tyler Boshae Foundation and Club Twitch to assist in this
endeavor. In addition, Community Hospital Foundation in
Missoula has set up an account where funds can be donated
through their non profit foundation.
We need to raise
$200,000.00 to help pay for Tyler's surgery and travel
expenses to San Francisco where the surgery will be performed.
